Rangers boss Michael Beale has promised a summer of change at the club as they look out for players that can make a massive impact. Rangers’ League Cup final loss to Old Firm opponents was Beale’s first since taking over at Ibrox in December, and they trail Ange Postecoglou’s side in the league by nine points. Beale’s only realistic chance of winning silverware in his first season as a manager is the Scottish Cup. Beale acknowledged the loss to Celtic was a “big disappointment” as he looked ahead to the visit of second-bottom Kilmarnock in the league on Saturday.
“We are at a crossroads this summer. We know we have two more derbies before the season ends, and we are focused on doing well in these games. We also anticipate a potential third Scottish Cup match,” Rangers boss Michael Beale said. “We still have a few games left to play, and the team has made steady but not exceptional development. We must keep pushing forward; the summer transfer window is critical for the football club. I want to put together a solid squad. It is my responsibility to remove the emotion from the game and then make decisions about who we want to keep with as we grow and build forward. There will be a change when the window reopens.”
“It is apparent that the football we are now playing and the way I would like us to play are not aligned, therefore we must continue to move forward. I believe we should hire three or four people who will have a significant impact on the team,” he added. “We definitely need to figure out the futures of those who are here, and we may need to change one or two who are under contract as well. There is no precise figure. I need to put together a solid team. The team needs to put forth more effort, and it starts with me. I have to perform better because it is evident that, despite our success in the previous 14 games, the first half of the final was enough for me to realize we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
