10. Nuno Gomes (166 goals)
Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro OIH, better known by his stage name Nuno Gomes, was a former striker for the Portuguese national team. He was born on July 5, 1976. Nuno Gomez starts our list of Top 10 Benfica Goalscorers Of All Time, and is widely recognized as one of the greatest Portuguese attackers in history. He played for the Eagles for a total of 12 seasons over the course of two stints, and in 399 games for the Reds, he has netted 166 goals. He began his professional career in 1994 with Boavista, where he spent three years and won one of the two medals he has ever won with a team other than Benfica—the Portuguese Cup.
9. Oscar Cardozo (172 goals)
Cardozo, Oscar Rene Marin, a Paraguayan professional football player who represents both his country’s national team and Club Libertad, was born on May 20, 1983. The only non-Portuguese player in the top-10 all-time goal scorers for Benfica is Oscar Cardozo. In other words, he holds the record for the Club’s top foreign scorer ever. The Paraguayan attacker began his career in his home nation, where he played for “3 de Febrero” and “Nacional Asuncion.” His rise to fame during his time at Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina led to his 2007 move to Benfica. Cardozo spent 7 years at Stadio de Luz and appeared 292 times while wearing a Reds jersey.
8. Jose Augusto (175 goals)
Portuguese footballer Jose Augusto Pinto de Almeida, better known by his stage name José Augusto, was born on April 13, 1937. He played as a right winger and later became a coach. Augusto is ranked eighth among Benfica’s all-time leading scorers and is largely regarded as one of the finest Portuguese strikers of his period. Prior to joining Benfica in 1959, Augusto made his professional debut with the Barreirense team, where he remained for four years. He stayed at Benfica for the remainder of his playing days till he retired in 1969, a decade later. He has won eight Primeira Liga championships, three Portuguese Cups, and two consecutive European Champion Club championships in 1961 and 1962 with the Eagles.
7. Julinho (202 goals)
Jlio Correia da Silva, often known as Julinho, was a striker for the Portuguese national team from 1 December 1919 until 18 March 2010. One of the most prolific goal scorers in the team’s history is largely regarded as Julinho. In 200 games, he has scored 205 goals for an average of more than one goal per game. One of Benfica’s all-time leading goal scorers, Julinho made his Eagles debut in 1942 and played for the team for 11 years before hanging up his boots in 1953. Before to Benfica, he played for Boavista and Academico. He was a key player in Benfica winning 3 Portuguese League trophies during his tenure, scoring 154 goals in 144 League games for them.
6. Rogerio Pipi (205 goals)
Portuguese footballer Rogério Lantres de Carvalho, also known as Rogério Pipi, played mostly as a striker and was born on December 7, 1922. The nickname “Pipi” belongs to Rogerio Carvalho, who is ranked as the sixth-best scorer in Benfica history and is recognized as one of the club’s all-time greatest attackers. He joined Benfica in 1942 after making his professional debut with his neighborhood team Chelas. His 12-season time with Benfica was broken by a brief stint to the Brazilian team Botafogo in 1947 because most players wanted to continue working outside of sport, which led to several confrontations. Three Primeira Liga championships, six Taca de Portugal medals, and the Latin Cup with Benfica in 1950 have all been won by Pipi.
5. Arsenio (220 goals)
Arsenio Trindade Duarte, often known as Arsénio, was a forward for the Portuguese national team from 16 October 1925 until 11 February 1986. Arsenio began his professional career with his hometown team Barreirense, where he won the Segunda Liga (Liga Portugal 2) in 1943 before joining Benfica the same year. He played most of his career for the Lisbon-based team, where he captured three Portuguese League championships, six Portuguese Cups, and one Latin Cup. He also scored 23 goals, finishing the 1957–58 Primeira Liga season as the league’s top goal scorer.
4. Jose Torres (226 goals)
Portuguese football center forward and coach José Augusto Costa Sénica Torres OM was born on September 8, 1938, and passed away on September 3, 2010. With 226 goals in 259 games, Jose Torres, a talented forward who was recognized as one of the finest Portuguese strikers of his period, is presently ranked fourth among all-time goal scorers for Benfica.
3. Nene (361 goals)
Portuguese professional footballer Tamagnini Manuel Gomes Batista, better known by his stage name Nené, was born on November 20, 1949. He was a productive striker who spent his whole playing career at Benfica, participating in almost 600 official matches and earning 19 trophies, which was a club record for many years. Nene was a one-club player who played with Benfica for the duration of his 18-year career. Nene is not only Benfica’s third-highest all-time goal scorer, but he is also one of the most decorated players in the club’s history after winning 19 major trophies, including 10 Portuguese League crowns, 7 Portuguese Cups, and 2 Portuguese Super Cups.
2. Jose Aguas (379 goals)
José Pinto de Carvalho Santos guas, a striker for the Portuguese national team, played football from 9 November 1930 until 10 December 2000. Aguas played for the Reds for 13 years of his career and established himself as a legendary figure in the club’s history by tallying a number of goals that put him in second position among all-time goal scorers at Benfica. Before joining Benfica in 1950, he started his career with a local team called Lusitano Lobito.

Portuguese footballer Eusébio da Silva Ferreira, who played as a striker, was born on January 25, 1942, and passed away on January 5, 2014. Eusebio is recognized as one of the greatest players in history, the greatest African-born player ever, and the greatest player in Benfica’s history. He is also considered one of the greatest Portuguese players in history. He was a member of Benfica for 14 years, from 1961 to 1975, during which time they dominated the national game. He has won three additional European championships with the Reds, in addition to 11 Primeira Liga championships, five Portuguese Cups, and one European Champion Clubs Cup. Additionally, he was a member of the teams that finished as runners-up in the 1961 and 1962 Intercontinental Cups, helping him top the list of the Top 10 Benfica Goalscorers Of All Time.
