Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte revealed the club is aware of his thoughts on the future. Tottenham’s dreams of winning a trophy this season were dashed when they were eliminated from the Champions League by AC Milan 1-0 on aggregate following a 0-0 stalemate in the second leg of the last-16 encounter. The full-time whistle was met with boos from the home fans, who haven’t seen their team win a trophy in almost 15 years and are only hoping for a top-four finish this season. Conte’s contract is set to expire on June 30, with the Spurs having the option to extend it for another year. Conte was hired as manager of Tottenham Hotspur in November 2021 and led the club to a top-four finish last season, finishing ahead of Arsenal.
“This is not the time to discuss my future. Tottenham has a contract with me, and Tottenham is well aware of my sentiments. We gather at the conclusion of the season to make a decision,” Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte said. “The situation is completely evident. I’ve been here for a year and two months and I usually repeat the same thing: we need time and patience. We don’t have a stable foundation to compete and win right now. We attempt to work with the right players to build the proper foundation and find a solution in the transfer market for the right team.”
“I have a fantastic working connection with the chairman. I have a contract till June and am available to work at Tottenham. Finally, a decision will be made,” he added. “I sincerely apologize to the supporters. We cannot fabricate victory or hope for a miracle one day to receive a trophy. You must build and be patient. I understand why the fans are frustrated because Tottenham hasn’t won in a long time. All I can guarantee is that my team will work extremely hard for this club and strive to develop. My contract is up in June. We’ll see – they might fire me before the season is out, who knows, maybe they’re disappointed.”
