Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus fell to the fifth position in Serie A after a 3-0 loss to AC Milan on Sunday. They are now in danger of losing out on a place in the Champions League for the 2021-22 season.
Cristiano Ronaldo, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, would ask to abandon Juventus if the club does not finish in the top four in Serie A, ignoring the fact that he has one year left on his deal.
Since joining Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo has been in sensational goal-scoring form. Cristiano Ronaldo was signed by the Bianconeri in the hopes of leading them to the coveted Champions League crown. However, Portugal international has failed to lead the club beyond the competition’s quarter-final stage.
Since scoring 34 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Juventus this season, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been widely criticized for his inability to make an impact in major games.
Recently, Fabrizio Romano told talkSPORT:
‘If Juventus are out of the Champions League the feeling here in Italy is that Cristiano will ask to leave. Let’s see what club can sign Cristiano this summer. Remember he has an incredible salary here at Juventus for one more season for £30 million. The bottom line is he wants to play in the Champions League and Juventus still has three-game left to get there, but it’s difficult for Juventus at the moment.”
Real Madrid and Sporting Lisbon, two of Cristiano Ronaldo’s former clubs, are officially interested in re-signing the 36-year-old powerhouse. Real Madrid’s striking possibilities are few, and the club has yet to find a suitable substitute for the forward following his departure in 2018.
Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, is said to be interested in returning to Sporting Lisbon. The Juventus striker started his professional career with the Portuguese side and is said to be considering a move to his homeland.
