After his time in Saudi Arabia, Cristiano Ronaldo, in the opinion of Al Nassr head coach Rudi Garcia, will play again in Europe. The Portuguese captain left Manchester United earlier this season before signing a lucrative two-year deal with the Saudi Pro League. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner might continue playing once his current contract expires when he turns 40, according to Rudi Garcia.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a good addition since he helps spread out the defense,” Rudi Garcia said. “He is one of the world’s top players. He will go back to Europe rather than end his career at Al Nassr.”
Ronaldo has failed to score for his new team, failing to find the back of the net in either Al Nassr’s Saudi Super Cup loss to Al Ittihad or his league starts against Al Ettifaq. With United, Ronaldo won the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup in addition to three Premier League championships. With Real Madrid, he later won two La Liga championships, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League crowns, and three Club World Cups. At Juventus, he won two Serie A championships and a Copa Italia in three years. Ronaldo will strive to score for his new team Al Nassr in their upcoming league encounter with over 800 senior goals for club and country.
Swansea, meanwhile, expressed their disgust at the racial taunts directed towards Michael Obafemi. The 22-year-old, who had 52 total appearances and 15 goals for Swansea, has joined Vincent Kompany’s squad till the end of the season with an eye toward a long-term deal. According to Swansea, South Wales Police have been informed about the insulting posts.
“Swansea City is aware of the horrible racist remarks made in reference to Michael Obafemi’s loan move to Burnley on social media,” a club statement said. “The club is attempting to find those involved and take the toughest possible action since it is disgusted by the obscene language used in the problematic posts. South Wales Police have been informed of the situation and are looking into it. In either society or football, there is no space for racism or discrimination of any kind.”
