Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham is the highest-valued player at the World Cup. The predicted total price tags for England outweigh favorites Brazil ($1.27 billion), France ($1.17 billion), and Spain ($1.05 billion). Portugal ($1.01 billion), Germany ($893.2 million), and the Netherlands ($662 million) are also European superpowers with values higher than Argentina ($516.7 million), the second favorite to win the trophy. Despite Inter attacker Lautaro Martinez being valued at a cool £86.7m, the stats suggest Southgate’s 26-man roster is more valuable collectively than Lionel Scaloni’s team by more than two and a half times. With a value of just £158 million, Wales’ team is ranked 23rd out of 32 teams and is less than eight times as expensive as their British counterparts. Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson is the team’s highest-valued player at £22.8 million.
The full 26-man Costa Rican team, on the other hand, would only cost £20.1 million, which is 65 times less than the cost of the England team. With a price tag of £176.9 million, England midfielder Bellingham will be the most valued player in Qatar, approximately £50 million more than Borussia Dortmund is reportedly willing to pay for the 19-year-old. Vinicius Junior, a winger for Real Madrid, is valued at £176 million, followed by Kylian Mbappe ($162 million), while other players with high valuations include Pedri (Spain), Jamal Musiala (Germany), and Federico Valverde (Uruguay).
Jude Bellingham has started every one of Dortmund’s 34 Bundesliga games this season, with the exception of two prior to the World Cup. His performances last season earned Liverpool interest, and Dortmund responded by putting an eye-watering £130 million price tag on his head. In Qatar, Gareth Southgate might find it tough to ignore him. Naturally, Declan Rice will start, and Kalvin Phillips is regarded as equally significant in his midfield. But given Phillips’ recent injury issues and lack of playing time for Manchester City, he will not be as prepared for the competition as Bellingham, which may necessitate a change of heart.
