Gary Neville believes that Jude Bellingham is world-class after another scintillating display during their 3-0 win over Senegal in the World Cup. Bellingham had an equally spectacular role in England’s second goal with a looping dribble from inside his own half. Bellingham’s driving run and square for Jordan Henderson helped England get off to a fast start in their last-16 match. Keane noted that, despite being six months away from his 20th birthday, the youth had displayed playmaking prowess in his maiden World Cup knockout game.
“Rarely do you see a midfielder who is as at ease in his own half as he is in the attacking half? He seemed to be capable of doing anything. Is he an offensive or a holding player? He is all things combined,” Gary Neville said about Jude Bellingham. “He is physically amazing for someone his age, but I find it difficult to comprehend his poise, maturity, and fearlessness. I spent many years watching England players compete; the weight of the shirt was tremendous. He just doesn’t seem to feel it at all; he appears to belong there because he clearly needs and wants it.”
After scoring his 52nd goal for England against Senegal, England captain Harry Kane was questioned about Bellingham, who played a large part in the formation of the goal. When asked if he was one of the best adolescent players in the world, Kane responded in the affirmative despite having only participated in one top-flight game by the time the midfielder was his age.
“He’s a superb player, in my opinion. Both with and without the ball, he has everything. He moves quickly around the field, presses hard, and makes tackles,” Harry Kane said. “He can run with the ball, engage opponents, play a through ball, and as you saw today, he was crucial to our goal. I really like Jude. He is a very decent man. He has excellent leadership qualities and is mature for his age.”
