Brazil head coach Tite has come out and defended the dance celebration of their goals against South Korea in the World Cup on Monday. After Richarlison gave the five-time world champions a 3-0 lead inside 30 minutes, Brazil’s players hurried over to the dugout, and head coach Tite temporarily joined in the dance. In a scorching exhibition of offensive football, Brazil went on to score once more before the break, but Keane, speaking on ITV, was not amused by their antics.
“There is no alternative interpretation but joy at the accomplishment, joy for the group, joy for the display,” Brazil head coach Tite said. “No disrespect was shown to the opposition or to [South Korea coach] Paulo Bento, who I much admire. We make an effort to modify for player characteristics. They are quite young, so I make an effort to learn some of their language, which includes dancing.”
“It’s like watching Strictly, I can’t believe what I’m seeing,” Roy Keane said. “I disagree with this. It’s their culture, people claim. However, in my opinion, that seriously disrespects the opposition. There are four aims, and they consistently accomplish them. The second jig and the manager’s involvement bug me more than the first one. I’m not pleased with it. It isn’t at all good, in my opinion.”
