Luke Barry scored a late equalizer to help Luton Town produce one of the close football results of the weekend in the Championship. The Lions appeared to be on track to take a significant step forward in the race for a top-six position after doubling their lead early in the second half, but they were unprepared for a comeback that saw Elijah Adebayo and Berry score to salvage a point. The visitors got off to the greatest possible start as keeper George Long’s clearance was headed down to the feet of Zian Flemming in the fourth minute. He fired from the edge of the box, and home keeper Ethan Horvath somehow let the ball slip between his fingertips and across the line. When Luton sought to react, Adebayo headed over Alfie Doughty’s corner, and Jordan Clark fired wide in the 20th minute.
The midfielder then attempted to beat Long at his near post, but the shot-stopper was able to turn the ball around the post with his fingertips. Luton appeared more likely to score as the half progressed. Clark appeared to be clipped in the area, but despite being well placed, referee Geoff Eltringham waved the claims aside. After the break, Doughty’s corner crashed into the crossbar with Long beaten, with Millwall’s defenders ensuring there was no way through from the rebound. In the 52nd minute, an offside-looking George Honeyman on the right wing fired in a low cross that Tom Bradshaw punched home to make it 2-0.
Cody Drameh met Amari’i Bell’s ball into the area at the back post, and Long brilliantly turned his effort on to the bar. When Luton substitute Cauley Woodrow was on target from range, Flemming curled waywardly over before firing an audacious free kick from 30 yards into orbit, Long easily saving. Millwall appeared more likely to score a third goal, with Oliver Burke directing a header goalwards that Horvath could gather. Clark fed Berry with three minutes remaining, and he swiveled just outside the area before finding the bottom corner. Town could have won it as well, with Carlton Morris heading over Doughty’s stoppage-time free-kick.
