PSG believes Kylian Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer. Mbappe received written notice from PSG on Monday warning him that he will be transferred this summer if he did not consent to an extension of his contract by the end of the month. If he doesn’t extend, PSG will sell him immediately and without conditions to the highest offer wherever that may be.
Any future transfer will merely be a commercial transaction; there won’t be any sentiments involved. When Real Madrid was first mentioned, it was thought that PSG would prefer not to cooperate with them, but if Mbappe’s contract is not renewed, they will sell him to any buyer who can afford to pay the asking amount. The asking price is presumably about £150 million. Mbappe was notified by PSG in writing on Monday that his decision not to extend his contract had resulted in significant losses for the team. They want him to extend his contract “to help the club that has helped you and your family.”
“My stance is quite clear. I won’t say it again, but we want Kylian to stay if that’s what he wants to do. However, he must consent to a new contract,” PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said about Kylian Mbappe. “The finest player in the world shouldn’t be lost for nothing. No, we can’t. This club is French. He vowed to never depart for anything. It’s not my responsibility if he chooses to think otherwise today. It’s obvious that we don’t want to lose the best player in the world for nothing.”
“The club wants Kylian Mbappe to stay, but he must sign a new deal, the PSG president made plain. They will be obliged to sell him if he doesn’t,” Kaveh Solhekol said. “The player has declined the opportunity to extend Mbappe’s contract by another year, which would have expired next summer. The finest player in the world cannot be lost for free, according to PSG, next summer. They are aware of his desire to join Real Madrid; once his contract expires, he intends to go for Madrid for free, leaving PSG with nothing.”
