England Player Ratings
Jordan Pickford – n/a
It may have been me in goal for the second straight game. No saves in two games. achieving the goal.
Kyle Walker – 8
Had a more aggressive attitude than Kieran Trippier had on Friday night, and it paid off when he assisted Saka on his opening goal. Man City may not like him, but he demonstrated why he has been England’s man for so long.
John Stones – 8
Solid in control and resisted the urge to switch to the No. 8 position he has lately played for Man City. won England a penalty after the break and also had a poorly executed corner kick.
Harry Maguire – 8
Remained firm against one early attempt at him and continued to be the defensive pair’s more forward-thinking player, attempting 10 long balls and hitting seven of them. moved out of defense more, mostly effectively as North Macedonia wore down, and nearly added an assist with a superbly timed run and throw for Rashford just before halftime.
Luke Shaw – 7
Spent the same amount of time in the opposing half as he did in Malta, but he had more to show for it by setting up the first goal. Quieter after the break, but another strong performance.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8
Although he wasn’t as prominent as he was in Malta, he still did well in this unpaid position, which is still in its infancy but benefits him, Gareth Southgate, and England. Assisted Saka on one goal with a typically excellent forward pass, and also had a hand in another.
Jordan Henderson – 8
Although he might have scored when he was a little late to react to a cross, Rashford wasn’t a slouch as he pursued the North Macedonia defenders and linked up with Kane to create the goal. presently outperforms his club by a significant margin when playing football for his nation.
Declan Rice – 7
The look on his face, as the card was revealed, told it all: “Unlucky to be booked after winning the ball.” Again neat on the ball and kept Elmas at bay during North Macedonia’s few offensive opportunities, but less strategic than in Malta.
Bukayo Saka – 10
When he left the ground with the match ball, the broad grin on his face told it all. What a hat trick that was—the first of one’s career. A strong first shot, a fantastic second, and a third one that was well-placed earned him the highest of the England Player Ratings. Although it appears first on the team sheet, Harry Kane is now following.
Harry Kane – 9
Scored two goals—one from the penalty spot and one from open play—as he always does. Harried, as he usually is; Rashford owes him a debt of gratitude for his contribution to the intense pressure that resulted in England’s third goal, along with Henderson. When he’s finished, his goal total record will be impressive.
Marcus Rashford – 9
The past 12 months this man has had are still astounding. He was once considered an underdog for the World Cup team, but this season at Old Trafford, he has been a revelation. At moments, on his home field, he could have easily passed for wearing a Manchester United jersey. He put Stefan Askovski on toast and made him appear to have butter on his studs.
Substitutions
Conor Gallagher (for Henderson, 58) – 5
Vigour but not extremely efficient. And is not now expecting for England’s response from the bench against tougher tests.
Jack Grealish (for Rashford, 58) – 7
Given his week, it was somewhat unexpected for him to play, but he did so and earned Southgate’s confidence by providing an assist only six minutes after entering the game.
Phil Foden (for Saka, 59) – 6
Couldn’t quite match the performance of a good cameo in Malta. No opportunities were produced in a half-hour with one shot.
Kalvin Phillips (for Rice, 59) – 7
From six yards out, you really couldn’t miss, but you have to be in the perfect location to score. Just as orderly as Rice on the ball, if not more so.
Callum Wilson (for Kane, 74) – 6
He was beaming on the bench as he waited to enter the game just as Kane was running up to score his penalty, although he would have like to enter the game earlier so that he could have been the one to take the kick. He was less active than he was in Malta and only recorded four touches.
