Everton head coach Frank Lampard believes that the fans were right to be unhappy after their 3-0 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League. As the final whistle blew, the Everton players and manager were yelled at, heckled, and surrounded by the traveling crowd. Jordan Pickford, who is leaving England for Qatar, contributed to the Cherries’ first goal by spilling a Dominic Solanke effort into Marcus Tavernier’s path, who scored. In the 25th minute, Kieffer Moore scored again, and in the second half, Jadon Anthony, who had come on as a substitute, sealed the victory. Lampard thinks that the reaction from the visiting supporters was justified given how well his players performed. The Toffees were defeated 4-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday at the same location.
“The supporters have every right to be miffed after seeing subpar performances twice in one week when, up until that point, things had been going well. Afterward, they discover that there are performances they don’t enjoy,” Everton boss Frank Lampard said. “Therefore, they must express their opinions when they witness what happened after Palace, and we can see that they welcomed us. And today, their judgments were accurate. The players must respect the fans’ freedom to express their sentiments, as they did again tonight.”
The traveling fans, who have now watched their team score just 11 goals in 15 Premier League games, endured another lengthy journey. Manager Lampard will enter the World Cup break under intense pressure as the Toffees will conclude the weekend just one point above the relegation zone. Lampard thinks it was crucial for the players to walk over to the traveling fans, notwithstanding how they were treated by them. Everton has won just three of its 27 away games since the start of the previous campaign, earning the fewest away points of any ever-present team in the Premier League (16).
