Arsenal Women have completed the signing of Cloe Lacasse from Benfica. After spending four years at Benfica, where she scored 102 goals in 131 games and helped the side win three league crowns, three league cups, and two super cups in Portugal, the 29-year-old joins the Gunners. She finished the 2019–20 season as the league’s leading scorer, and at the conclusion of the 2022–23 season, she was voted Player of the Year. After the Tuesday arrival of seasoned defender Amanda Ilestedt, Lacasse is Jonas Eidevall’s second summer acquisition.
“I’m so eager and happy to begin here,” new Arsenal Women signing Cloe Lacasse said. “I believe this club has what it takes to fight for the top honors, and I feel psychologically and physically prepared to be able to contribute here and win trophies. I want to advance and contribute to Arsenal’s scoring here.”
“The signing of Cloe to bolster our attacking line at Arsenal makes me very happy,” head coach Jonas Eidevall said. “In two European leagues and the Champions League, Cloe has established herself as a capable goal scorer over a number of seasons. She will give our offensive strategy a new depth, and I am looking forward to working with her.”
“We’ve been keeping an eye on Cloe for a while, so we’re happy to have finalized this signing,” head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said. “Our team at Arsenal thinks Cloe has the skills to fit into our playing style and that her resume is really excellent. I have no doubt that seeing Cloe in the red and white will thrill our fans.”
