Argentina player ratings (4-3-3)
GK – Emiliano Martinez – 8/10 – Up until the 70th minute, he had absolutely nothing to do. After that, he gave up three goals but made an incredible stop to hold the score at 3-3. In the shootout, saved a penalty.
RB – Nahuel Molina – 4/10 – Dealt with Kylian Mbappe rather easily up until the 78th minute, when the superstar tore him limb from limb.
CB – Cristian Romero – 6/10 – Reached out to Molina when assistance was required.
CB – Nicolas Otamendi – 3/10 – Played poorly and gave France a penalty.
LB – Nicolas Tagliafico – 5/10 – He had an easy time of it, to put it mildly, watching Dembele try to play football in the first half. Compared to Thuram in the second half, it wasn’t as easy.
CM – Rodrigo De Paul – 7/10 – Put forth a decent effort in midfield, as you would anticipate.
CM – Enzo Fernandez – 7/10 – In midfield, he out-battled and out-thought his opponents.
CM – Alexis Mac Allister – 8/10 – The Brighton lad contributed to a goal in the World Cup final and played a bloody amazing game overall.
RW – Lionel Messi – 10/10 – Lively and managed to score another penalty kick in the first 20 minutes. His fast dribbles and corner flicks were entertaining to watch the entire time, and he later scored what appeared to be the game-winning goal in extra time. Cooly’s penalty kick went in.
ST – Julian Alvarez – 7/10 – Led the press of Argentina brilliantly from the front.
LW – Angel Di Maria – 9/10 – On the left, absolutely electric. Won a penalty for his team, which Messi converted, and then scored a goal on his own.
