After Cameroon and Serbia lost their opening games of the World Cup, both teams face elimination on Monday. The 1990 World Cup quarterfinalists were only edged out by a goal from Cameroonian-born Breel Embolo of Switzerland in their opening match, but they were not outmatched by their European rivals. Serbia, on the other hand, was unable to compel Alisson of Brazil to make any saves. Up until the half, Dragan Stojkovic’s team held the Seleçao scoreless but ultimately suffered a well-deserved loss.
Cameroon team news
Before Cameroon’s match against Switzerland, Song was able to welcome Olivier Ntcham back to practice after the midfielder overcome some muscle soreness. With a fully healthy squad at his disposal, Song chose to start Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Bayern Munich through the midfield rather than Cameroon’s captain and prolific scorer Vincent Aboubakar. Given Aboubakar’s nondescript 15-minute cameo, Choupo-Moting might keep his high place in the hierarchy.
Serbia team news
Stojkovic lamented the fact that “three crucial players” were unavailable for Serbia’s match against Brazil due to injury. The matchday squad included all 26 members of Serbia, however, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dusan Vlahovic, and Filip Kostic all had questionable fitness. Stojkovic emphasized that Mitrovic “came with a lot of problems to Qatar” despite the fact that he started against Brazil. Filip Kostic didn’t play a single minute of the final 25 minutes before Vlahovic came off the bench. Muscle exhaustion forced the Juventus wide player to miss time, and the timing of his return is “a significant question mark.”
Cameroon vs Serbia World Cup score prediction
In the second halves of their opening games, both teams saw troubling declines. Stojkovic, of Serbia, was particularly concerned about the team’s downturn due to injuries. He acknowledged, “This is a surprise for me, something unexpected.” Due to Switzerland’s victory, Cameroon has now lost eight games in a row at the World Cup. Only Mexico has ever suffered nine successive losses on the international level (between 1930 and 1954).
