Wycombe forward Tjay De Barr has been discharged from hospital after he collapsed on the pitch at the end of their 1-0 defeat to Plymouth. De Barr went down at the sound of the final whistle after taking a knock in the final seconds of the game and receiving treatment in an ambulance. The 22-year-old was treated to by medical personnel while he was surrounded by his teammates, who then drove him to an ambulance that was waiting.
“Tjay De Barr was taken to the hospital for emergency care shortly after the conclusion of the League 1 match between Plymouth Argyle and Home Park. He was later released from the hospital with the help of Manager Gareth Ainsworth and the Head of Medical Cian O’Doherty,” Wycombe said in a statement after Tjay De Barr was discharged from the hospital. “The striker underwent additional testing at the hospital after being evaluated by local medical personnel. Wycombe Wanderers are grateful for the quick and skilled help provided by the medical personnel at Home Park and the hospital, as well as for everyone at Plymouth Argyle’s support and good wishes at this trying period.”
“It makes me very happy to report that Tjay appears to be out of danger right now and that he is recovering. Everyone was distressed at the time, and I believe both teams should be proud of how fast their players and staff came together to assist Tjay in his hour of need,” Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth said. “I want to express my gratitude to the medical staff on both my team and the Plymouth Argyle team for their professionalism and skill throughout. They replied really swiftly and made sure Tjay always got the finest care available. We are very lucky to have folks like these taking care of us when we most need them, and their dedication and hard work should never go unappreciated.”
