Kevin Nisbet has pulled out of a move to Millwall despite Hibernian accepting an offer of £2.3m. Nisbet was scheduled to go to the south on Friday to complete his transfer to the Championship team, but it’s believed he changed his mind. The Scotland international, who had not yet signed to personal terms with Millwall, only made his long-awaited return from a knee injury in December, but since then, he has netted seven goals in seven appearances. Nisbet, who switched from Dunfermline to Hibernian in July 2020, has a deal with the Scottish Premiership team through the summer of 2024.
“Kevin has given this decision a lot of thought, but he isn’t sure if he should act at this time. For the time being, he’d want to concentrate on Hibs,” a spokesperson said after Kevin Nisbet pulled out of a move to Millwall.
Ryan Porteous’ transfer to Watford has been officially announced, and Nisbet appears to be staying at Easter Road for the time being. A bid of between £400,000 and £500,000 was accepted by the Championship team for the defender, although Hibernian will keep a sell-on clause. At the end of the current campaign, Porteous’ Hibernian contract was set to expire, and he had already made it clear he would not be extending it.
“Over the past three months, Ryan has done a tremendous job serving the club and has been a pleasure to work with,” Hibernian chief executive Ben Kinsell said. “When it became apparent that he wanted to consider his choices, we worked hard to negotiate the best terms for us while also keeping an eye on what Ryan should do to advance his career. We want to congratulate him for his dedication and professionalism and wish him the best in the future. We will miss him because of his fierce desire to succeed. He will go on to have an extremely successful career, that much is certain. We hope he succeeds at Watford.”
