Kyogo Furuhashi scored the decisive goal to help Celtic produce one of the narrow football scores of the weekend in the Scottish Premiership. Ayo Obileye’s own goal and an outstanding team goal by Kyogo gave Postecoglou’s squad the lead at Parkhead before Nicky Devlin’s consolation, but the Bhoys manager believed they still weren’t operating at their peak. In the second half, Liel Abada had a third goal controversially disallowed for offside, but it did not matter because Celtic won their 11th straight league game to restore the lead at the top of the standings.
The only alteration Postecoglou made from the weekend victory against Aberdeen was to the right side of the field, where Abada was positioned. Celtic came out of the gate strong. First, Kyogo missed a shot while turning after Anthony Ralston’s low cross caused chaos in the Livingston penalty area. Obileye was warned about the possibility of an own goal when he headed a Celtic free-kick towards the roof of the opponent’s net, but goalkeeper Ivan Konovalov was able to tip it over as Celtic continued to exert their control.
Unfortunately, Obileye, who was not under any pressure, put Abada’s cross from the right high into his net, which was the least Postecoglou’s team deserved. As Abada slipped in Kyogo, Celtic continued to look for more, but Konovalov sprinted off his line to stop him at close range. A short while later, Hatate was denied by the Livingston goalie in a similar situation, this time down the Celtic left. However, there was still time for Livingston to get a goal back when Devlin slid through on goal in the visitors’ opening assault and he just touched the ball past the hitherto untested Joe Hart.
