Antoine Semenyo scored the equalizer to help produce one of the close football scores of the weekend in the Championship. After 54 minutes, the visitors took the lead when Tyler Morton, who had gotten in behind City’s defense on the right, brought back a pinpoint cross for Bradley Dack to score from eight yards. 14 minutes later, though, City equalized when Rovers goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski parried a drive from outside the area by Zak Vyner, and Antoine Semenyo scored on the rebound. In the 74th minute, Ayala was given a second yellow card for hauling back Nahki Wells as he was about to break free, which brought Blackburn down to ten men. On a decent run, Rovers reorganized well and earned their point against opponents who were getting better.
The host team had a strong start, forcing two early corners, but Blackburn produced the first real opportunity when Ben Brereton Diaz misfired at the far post from a Ryan Hedges cross in the 12th minute. After 15 minutes, Semenyo missed the target for City as both teams attempted to acclimatize to their assignment on a chilly afternoon. After that, Wells received a cross from Semenyo and shot it just inside the near post. When City attacked again in the 24th minute on a Wells glancing header, Kaminski made a quick stop.
As Semenyo headed the ball over from a Kal Naismith cross, the hosts were the ones who had the clearer opportunities. Rovers failed to record a shot on goal in the first half. There wasn’t much excitement to raise the temperature, and the guests appeared stable and collected at the back. After 52 minutes, Brereton Diaz shot high over the bar as both teams were still having trouble creating significant scoring opportunities. Dack’s goal came unexpectedly and was the first successful shot on goal for Rovers. Second, Semenyo subsequently broke into the box but his furious effort could only find the side netting. The game finally picked up steam, and Semenyo’s equalizer had the home crowd on its feet.
