Ben Cabango scored with literally the last kick of the game to help Swansea produce one of the narrow football results of the midweek action in the Championship. Eight minutes into the 20 minutes that were tacked on due to the officials’ communication equipment failing and forcing the players off the field, the defender headed in Ryan Manning’s free kick. Watford took the lead thanks to an Ismaila Sarr goal, but Olivier Ntcham equalized after the break to lay the groundwork for the postponed celebrations. The former West Ham and West Brom boss Bilic won his debut game as Rob Edwards’ replacement 4-0 at Stoke on Sunday.
Swansea got off to the livelier start, but Ntcham, who was brought back into the lineup after scoring off the bench in Saturday’s 3-2 victory against West Brom, sliced wide after his free-kick rebounded off the wall. The game was stopped for many minutes while Ntcham received medical attention after being struck by a clearing that went directly into his face. In the early exchanges, Watford struggled to put together important passes and lost possession even when under minimal pressure. After finding space on the left side of the box, on-loan Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis gave the home crowd something to cheer about, but Swansea goalkeeper Steven Benda was able to deflect his low effort.
