Jamshedpur FC has completed the signing of Harry Sawyer, the current highest goalscorer of the National Premier League Victoria 2022. He has signed a one-year contract ahead of the upcoming Hero ISL season. Sawyer has scored 17 goals in 23 appearances this season for South Melbourne FC. The 1.95m striker will wear the number 8 jersey when he joins the squad for pre-season.
“This will be my first time in Indian football, and I am excited to join the current ISL League winners. Indian Super League has grown exponentially, with players like Tim Cahill having previously played in the league and for Jamshedpur,” Harry Sawyer said after completing his move to Jamshedpur FC. “I have heard about the rich culture of Jamshedpur and the devoted fans at the Furnace. I am excited to experience the same and looking forward to kick-off my new adventure in India as a part of the Men of Steel.”
“Harry’s skill in converting goals, shots inside the box, quick feet, targeted headers, and physicality makes him the best choice as a striker. Harry is a great addition to our squad and a potent threat to opponents’ defenses. With his skill-set, guidance, and hard work, we hope to see a lot of goals,” said Aidy Boothroyd.
The club has also completed the signing of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas ahead of the upcoming season. He has played for the likes of Arsenal, Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers, Milton Keynes Dons, Gillingham, PTT Rayong, Livingston, and Aberdeen.
“The growth of Indian Football has been fascinating to follow and it’s a great feeling to be part of the ISL League Shield winners. It’s now time to rest the accolades from last season and work hard towards the next,” Emmanuel-Thomas said. “Each game is going to be tough and my goal is to contribute to winning as a team while playing exciting football and thrill the incredible fans of Jamshedpur each time we take the field”
