New Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou revealed that he is frustrated with the delays in the recruitment policy of the club. The Australian joined the club to win back the league title from rivals Rangers. With less than a week before the start of the new season, Postecoglou is not happy with the transfers so far.
“It’s probably the one area we’re chipping away but not having the visible results.” the new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou said. “Of course we’ve signed Liel Abada who came in and had a fantastic debut as well as Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furuhashi but both of them are not here right now which are the challenges of the world we live in at the moment.”
“That’s the frustrating bit – it would have been great to have those two boys in already and the other ones we are working on concluded a bit quicker,” he added. “That’s not through a lack of wanting or hard work – we’re endeavoring to get there and chipping away and hopefully over the next two or three weeks we’ll bear the fruit of that.”
Postecoglou narrowed down a couple of positions that they are short of. He admitted a right-back was the most important all though he did not name any players. He did say that a number of players were being monitored.
“We’ve had to have multiple targets in each position because it’s challenging to get deals done – whether it’s because of the Covid restrictions or still fairly early in the window,” Postecoglou added,” he added. “We’ve got about three-player names running concurrently in the positions we need because of the situation and for me, it’s about getting one of them into the squad and training as quickly as possible.”
