Steven Gerrard revealed that he was tired of answering questions regarding the future of Alfredo Morelos. He is not sure whether Morelos will join the Rangers squad this season. The Colombian scored 17 goals in the league last season and was heavily linked with a move to Porto. Gerrard is desperate to continue preparations for their title defense.
“I don’t know, I can’t answer that question for you. We want the best version of Alfredo. That is all that we have ever asked for.” Steven Gerrard said talking about Alfredo Morelos. “I have read a lot of stuff around Alfredo – I know where it is coming from. I don’t know what is going to happen with him. No, I am not frustrated. I am very happy, we are just on the back of a fantastic season. I am so excited moving forward into the next season.”
“So, it is getting a bit tiresome that question now,” he added when asked about the transfer speculation surrounding Morelos. “I get asked this question every window, every few weeks because you read more about Alfredo in terms of who he is linked with or where he is possibly going to go rather than talking about what he does on the football pitch.”
Gerrard maintained the immediate focus is pre-season and getting the team up to speed before the start of the new season. He also revealed that he is looking to add a couple of players to the existing squad.
“Alfredo Morelos is due back at some point, we’re not sure when but hopefully he’ll arrive when he’s ready,” Gerrard said. “We’ve got a few injuries in pre-season we need to get more minutes into their load so they’re ready. The important thing for me is the players we have in the door at the minute, and if we can in the coming weeks add one or two to the cause we’ll be more than ready.”
