Tottenham has made contact with Wolfsburg over a possible transfer for center-back Micky van de Ven. In this transfer window, Spurs are hoping to add at least one new center-back, ideally one who is able to play on the left side of the defense. Harry Maguire of Manchester United, Aymeric Laporte of Manchester City, and Max Kilman of Wolves were among their domestic targets earlier in June. They are now expanding their search to continental Europe, with Germany in particular. According to insiders, Tottenham has started talking to Wolfsburg about 22-year-old Micky Van de Ven.
He is presently traveling with the Netherlands at the European Under-21 Championship. Despite being included in the preliminary team for the 2022 World Cup, Van de Ven has not received a senior-level cap. Despite being a 6’4″ tall center-back, Van de Ven spent his first two seasons at Wolfsburg playing left back. Liverpool has continued to show interest in him after making questions about him earlier this year.
James Maddison’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur seems imminent following the agreement of a price with Leicester City. For most of this month, Spurs and the Foxes have been in negotiations in the hopes of securing a deal for long-term target Maddison. Spurs and Leicester have come to terms on a fee that, if all add-ons are satisfied, could exceed £45 million. He will soon go for a medical appointment and complete the relocation. Leicester had held out hope of selling Maddison for £60 million before being demoted to the Championship at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 Premier League season. However their position had changed, making discussions with Tottenham easier.
Although Newcastle United had also expressed a strong interest in the midfielder, the agreement ultimately depended on Maddison’s desire to come to north London because the Magpies had recently backed off of negotiations. Additionally eager to move through with their own transfer ambitions during this window is Leicester. Conor Coady, a defender for Wolves, and Zack Steffen, a custodian for Manchester City, are also targets for them. Tottenham playmaker Harry Winks is also a high target, although negotiations for him have been kept apart from those for Maddison.
