AC Milan have completed the transfer of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea. The eight-year-old Chelsea youth product spent 19 years on the club’s books at Stamford Bridge, making 155 appearances for the Blues across all competitions. His anticipated breakout season was thwarted by a catastrophic Achilles injury towards the conclusion of the 2018–19 season, and following a loan to Fulham in 2020–21, Loftus-Cheek’s Chelsea career would be limited to a squad position. Ruben Loftus-Cheek decided to move to AC Milan in quest of a new beginning, where he would work alongside Fikayo Tomori, a former colleague from the Blues, on a four-year deal.
In the selling market so far this summer, Chelsea has let go of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, and Kalidou Koulibaly. Cesar Azpilicueta, who has agreed to terms with Inter, is anticipated to join them. The Saudi branch of Al Nassr is still interested in Hakim Ziyech, but issues raised during a medical examination have made his transfer uncertain. Milan is interested in a number of Chelsea players, notably winger Christian Pulisic, so the two clubs’ business could not end here.
Pulisic has two years left on his Chelsea deal, much like Loftus-Cheek, and is free to leave the team this summer for the right price. In Serie A, the American has generated attention. Although Chelsea is rumored to be a fan of Milan goalie Mike Maignan, the 27-year-old is probably too pricey for the Premier League team, who are seeking for a goalkeeper to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.
