Celtic have completed the signing of Oliver Abildgaard from Rubin Kazan on loan for the season. The midfielder was keen to leave Russia despite him being under contract until 2024. He played 22 appearances as a defensive midfielder, scoring one goal while providing three assists. Abilgaard becomes the third signing from Kazan after the arrivals of Sead Haksabanovic and Carl Starfelt.
“This is a day I’ve been very much looking forward to ever since I heard the possibility of coming here. I’ve been following the highlights recently, ever since I heard about the interest, and I’ve also been keeping my eye on Carl Starfelt as well ever since he moved here a year ago,” Oliver Abildgaard said after completing his move to Celtic. “He’s been amazed by the club ever since he came here, and the life in Glasgow as well. He’s enjoying it very much and he’s only told me good things about it. At all times it would be perfect to come here but, of course, with these big games coming up, I’m really looking forward to feeling the atmosphere, not only in the stadium but also in the city. I’ve only heard very good things about the fans and the culture of the club. It goes without saying how big the fanbase and I’m just looking forward to being part of it.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea has completed the signing of Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus. The London club has the option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season.
“I want to say hi to all the Chelsea fans. I’m very happy and proud to be a Blue and I cannot wait to see you soon at Stamford Bridge,” Zakaria said.
“Denis is a talented midfielder with lots of quality and skill. He will add depth and range to our squad this season, and we are looking forward to watching him play in Chelsea blue,” Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly said.
