Newcastle United has completed a £3m deal for Harrison Ashby. On Monday, he passed his medical, and West Ham added a sell-on provision to the contract. One of the seven times the Scottish defender played for West Ham’s first team was in the Premier League.
“We are excited to sign Harrison since he is a very good young athlete with a lot of potentials,” Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said after Harrison Ashby completed his move to Newcastle. “We are looking forward to working with him in this fascinating new stage of his career because he possesses many positive qualities.”
“I couldn’t be more content. It’s a proud day for me and my family, and I can’t take the smile off my face. I can’t wait to attend the game tonight, meet the supporters, and experience the atmosphere. I thank all the coaches I had from when I was little till now because, without West Ham, I wouldn’t be here today, but I’m also happy to be here,” Harrison Ashby said.
“The acquisition of Harrison Ashby from West Ham United by Newcastle has been finalized. Even though Ashby didn’t play much for West Ham’s first team, Eddie Howe still views him as a first-team player, and going forward, St. James Park will give him opportunities,” Keith Downie said.
While Vitinha chose to sign with Ligue 1 team Marseille, Southampton’s pursuit of the Braga striker has come to an end. Vitinha would have become the club’s most expensive signing had Southampton been willing to pay his release clause, which was more than £26 million. Nathan Jones, the manager of the Saints, has stated numerous times that they would like to “add potency” to their attack. The club has been looking for a striker since last summer when they were unable to sign any of their targets, and it appears that their search will continue well into Deadline Day. Moussa Dembele, a forward for Lyon who has scored 69 goals in 160 games for the French side, is a player who Southampton is also interested in.
For the transfer of Rennes’ Kamaldeen Sulemana to Southampton, a contract worth £22 million (€25 million) plus bonuses have been reached. The deal will exceed the club-record £22 million they agreed to pay for Danny Ings to join Liverpool in 2019. Everton was one of the clubs interested in the player.
