After a goalless draw with Paris Saint-Germain at Stade Pierre Mauroy on Sunday, Lille OSC remains top of the Ligue 1 table.
With Presnel Kimpembe and Mike Maignan making significant interventions to keep the score even, both sides had opportunities, but neither was able to make the breakthrough.
With LOSC and OL one point better off than the men of Thomas Tuchel and then Olympique de Marseille four points further out, just a single point separates Lille, Olympique Lyonnais, and PSG.
PSG lifted their game after some poor recent domestic form, knowing that a fifth Ligue 1 loss of the season might prove fatal to their title hopes. By no way was it sparkling football, but it was more cohesive than many of their recent league offerings.
Understandably, PSG failed to find a way past Maignan in the Lille goal, given that talisman Neymar was injured and Kylian Mbappe was only healthy enough to be a replacement. The fact that they were largely the dominant side, however, and only missed the objective, suggests that on Tuchel’s side there is still life.
