Inter Milan are sticking to their £51m valuation for goalkeeper Andre Onana amid Manchester United links. Positive transfer negotiations are proceeding, but if the transaction is to go through, a compromise on the money and structure is required. After United’s initial offer of £38.5 million (€45 million) was turned down, there is still interest from all sides in making the transfer happen. However, sources close to the player think that everyone wants to come to an agreement before Onana reports for Inter’s pre-season on July 13.
Erik ten Hag, Onana’s former Ajax manager, is spearheading the pursuit of the 27-year-old player, and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana has made it obvious that he intends to transfer to Old Trafford and rejoin him. United is still looking at acquiring Japanese custodian Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds after David De Gea said he was leaving the team after failing to reach a new contract agreement.
When he returns for preseason, Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United, will discuss his position in Ten Hag’s plans. Maguire, 30, joined United for £80 million in 2019 – a record cost for a defender – but only made 16 starts in the previous year. Two years are left on the center-back’s deal. This summer, United hopes to raise money by selling players. The midfielder Fred is drawing interest from Fulham as he enters the last year of his contract. If there are departures, the team will aim to restock such areas, and Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina is one of the midfielders United is still evaluating.
Rasmus Hojlund is still being negotiated between Manchester United and Atalanta. Although there is still a difference in price, Hojlund’s team has made it clear the player wants to join Old Trafford, thus United is still optimistic a deal can be reached. Amad Diallo may be included in the deal as well, maybe on loan, although Ten Hag is reportedly waiting to see how the player performs during preseason. Diallo moved from Atalanta to United in 2021, and he spent the previous campaign there on loan. Diallo assisted Sunderland in reaching the Sky Bet Championship Playoffs.
