Derby County has confirmed the appointment of Paul Warne as their head coach after Liam Rosenoir was relieved of his duties. Warne had been managing Rotherham since 2016 and has now signed a deal with Derby till 2026. Liam Rosenoir was the interim manager after Wayne Rooney left the club in the summer. He was relieved of his duties this week although was offered a spot on the team. Derby is currently seventh in League One after nine games where they have picked up 14 points. Assistant head coach Richie Baker will join Warne along with first-team coach Matt Hamshaw and first-team goalkeeper coach Andy Warrington.
“The board intended to take some time examining every part of the club, as was made clear in the summer, and having done that, we believe Paul’s track record of success at this level fits well with our long-term vision,” Derby County confirmed the appointment of Paul Warne. “In almost 300 games as a manager, he has won promotion three times from League One, along with the Papa Johns Trophy last season, and his recent achievements with Rotherham United highlight his ability and experience, two factors that will be crucial in this crucial season for Derby County.”
“Liam Rosenior’s appointment as interim manager ends with Paul’s arrival, and on behalf of everyone at Pride Park Stadium, we would like to thank Liam for all of his efforts during a very trying time and in stabilizing the club under new ownership,” the statement added. “There is no denying Liam’s commitment and hard work, and he unquestionably has a bright future in management. But right now, in terms of leadership and advancement on the field, we think it’s appropriate to make a change.”
