Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has revealed that he would like to finish his career at the club. The 32-year-current old’s deal ends at the conclusion of the current campaign, therefore there have been negotiations about extending it. A one-year extension is an option for United.
“I’m in a wonderful mood. I simply focus on exercising and giving it my all. But it’ll certainly work out well in the end,” Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea said. “I hope (to stay for the rest of my career). I was saying that I am grateful to be here, that this is my club, and that I have been a member for a very long time.”
United is presently attempting to add more competition for De Gea because Martin Dubravka returned to Newcastle and Tom Heaton was named the club’s backup goalkeeper for Tuesday night’s triumph over Bournemouth. Jack Butland of Crystal Palace, whose contract expires in the summer, is one of the replacements United is contemplating. Rather than waiting until the summer, the club is reportedly willing to negotiate a price with Palace to sign the 29-year-old now. Butland, who competed for England at the 2018 World Cup, has yet to get on the field for the Eagles this year and is said to be considering a transfer to United.
Yann Sommer of Borussia Monchengladbach has caught United’s attention, but a transfer for the 34-year-old would be unlikely if De Gea signs a new deal. When United defeated Bournemouth on Tuesday night, De Gea once again showed why he was so important to the team by making key stops from Philip Billing and Jaidon Anthony to keep the score at 2-0 before Marcus Rashford added a third goal to seal the victory at Old Trafford.
