Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes revealed that she is not interested in the possible permutations for the WSL title. The league’s second-placed team, the Blues, who just won their third straight FA Cup, are one point behind league-leading Manchester United but still have two games left to play. In the event that United loses to Manchester City on the last day of the season, Chelsea’s victories against West Ham on Wednesday and Arsenal on Sunday would be sufficient. Hayes insisted vehemently that she had no idea how invested her players may be inconceivable eventualities.
“Thank glad I’m not privy to some of these crazy chats because I have so much work to accomplish,” Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes said. “In any case, they don’t want me to be a part of them. We’re all football fans, too, but from what I’ve observed in the locker room, we only seem to be concerned with what we can influence. You’re asking the wrong person here since I didn’t even know we could go top if we win tomorrow until someone informed me yesterday. Now that I know better, I never look at them because your head always runs away from you.”
After selling out the Emirates Stadium for their semi-final match against Wolfsburg earlier this month, Arsenal is trying to stay in the Champions League for another season. When the Gunners visit Everton, Jonas Eidevall will be hoping to create some separation between his third-placed team and Manchester City, who are currently behind them in the standings. Arsenal and City are tied on 44 points, although Arsenal has played one fewer game and has a stronger goal differential.
“Typically, I think our enemies are very motivated. I always have the same expectations because I believe we will have unwavering motivation. I don’t want to draw too many conclusions from last week’s outcome,” Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall said. “Everton gave a good performance in that game, and they also gave a less-than-stellar performance, as in any football game you play, so we just need to get ready to play.”
