Celtic winger Daizen Maeda has signed a four-year contract with the Scottish champions. A few days prior, striker Kyogo Furuhashi signed a contract extension with the Scottish champions through 2027, putting an end to rumors regarding his future. The 25-year-old was a key member of Celtic’s treble-winning team last season, scoring 11 goals in 48 games. The World Cup participant from Japan joined the Hoops on loan from Yokohama F. Marinos in December 2021, and his deal was made permanent last summer. He claimed he is eager for further success.
“For myself and my family, it is a really joyful time. Since our relocation from Japan, everyone at the club and the fans, of course, have been kind, and we are loving life in Scotland,” Celtic winger Daizen Maeda said. “Since Celtic is a unique club, I’m thrilled to remain longer. We have won the league twice since I joined, as I stated when I signed on. One of the pleasures of my career has been winning the Triple Crown last year, but we must now get ready for the next year. Our goal will continue to be to work hard with the management to help the team and our fans succeed.”
“Daizen possesses many of the traits I look for in a player, including great energy, an aggressive mindset, and an amazing work rate both on and off the ball,” Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said. “I’m happy that we were able to negotiate a new contract with him because he has been an important member of the team ever since he joined and helped the club win yet another Triple. The qualities that Daizen possesses make him a truly fascinating player, and I am forward to collaborating with him.”
Since coming back to Parkhead, Rodgers has added two more players, namely winger Marco Tilio from Melbourne City and midfielder Odin Thiago Holm from Valerenga. Jota, a Portuguese winger, signed a £25 million deal to join Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, while Aaron Mooy confirmed his retirement from the game.
