Brighton has told Moises Caicedo to stay away from training in response to his transfer request. By posting on Instagram on Friday night that he would be “glad to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton,” Caicedo made it clear that he wanted to leave. The 21-year-old Ecuadorian has only recently started training with the Seagulls’ first team; Chelsea is also interested in the player. During this transfer window, Arsenal already had a £60 million offer for the player rejected. Brighton has made it clear to Arsenal that Moises Caicedo is not for sale. Brighton has also informed Caicedo that he won’t be traveling within this window. They have given him a few days off to clear his thoughts since they recognize that the attention has caused him to get distracted.
“The fact that Mr. Bloom and Brighton gave me the chance to play in the Premier League is something I appreciate, and I think I always gave them my best effort. I always smile and play with heart when I play football,” Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo said. “As the youngest of ten children in Santa Domingo, Ecuador, I was raised in poverty. To become the most decorated player in Ecuador has been my lifetime ambition. It’s an honor for me to be able to help Brighton set a transfer record so they can reinvest the money and continue to support the team’s progress. Since they have given me a place in their hearts and will always have a place in mine, I sincerely hope the fans can comprehend why I wish to embrace this amazing chance.”
On the Brighton website, Caicedo said earlier this week that his focus was solely on his current club. Leandro Trossard previously left Brighton for Arsenal during this transfer window for £27 million, but Brighton is intent about keeping Caicedo.
