Arsenal has completed the signing of Spezia center-back Jakub Kiwior for £20m. The 22-year-old, who has agreed to a four-and-a-half-year contract at the Emirates Stadium with an additional year’s option, is the Premier League leaders’ second acquisition in January following the £27 million acquisition of Leandro Trossard from Brighton.
“The first time I saw my name on an Arsenal shirt, I couldn’t help but giggle! I was overjoyed to see my name on the jersey of such a sizable team. Playing for such a prestigious club is the highlight of my career for me,” Jakub Kiwior said after completing his move to Arsenal. “My goal has always been to play in the Premier League. It was one of my biggest aspirations, so I knew it wouldn’t be simple, and if I got the chance, I’d have to make the most of it. It’s the best league in my opinion. It makes me happy to be here.”
“The fact that Arsenal was interested and that I can be here means a lot to me. I didn’t really have to think about anything else because I am aware of how big of a club Arsenal is in the premier league. I couldn’t help but be overjoyed and eager to attend,” he added. “I enjoy handing the ball off. Teams that move the ball and try to create opportunities are my favorites. I’m glad to have joined a team like that, so.”
Poland has given Kiwior nine caps, and he started each of their four World Cup games in Qatar. A left-sided center defender was needed by Arsenal because Kiwior was expected to challenge Gabriel for the starting position. Despite not having his arrival at the club officially confirmed, Kiwior attended Arsenal’s 3-2 victory against Manchester United on Super Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
