Celtic have completed the signing of Yuki Kobayashi from Vissel Kobe on a five-year deal. The 22-year-old, who has played for Japan’s U20 side, will join up with his new teammates on December 1, before being eligible for selection in January 2023. Kobayashi is the fifth player to join Ange Postecoglou’s side from the J-League, with countrymen Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, and Yosuke Ideguchi already at Parkhead.
“I can’t wait to start working with Celtic, and I’m very happy to have this chance,” Yuki Kobayashi said after completing his move to Celtic. “I’ll do all in my power to make the club succeed. It will be a true honor to don this magnificent jersey because everyone knows what a special club Celtic is. Ange Postecoglou’s work is highly recognized in Japan as a result of his fantastic experience in the J League, and as a member of Celtic, I am looking forward to working with him as a coach and the outstanding group of players he has already assembled.”
“I am aware of Celtic’s incredible history of success, and I want to do my part to help the team and its supporters experience even more triumphs in the future,” he added. “I would like to express my profound gratitude to Vissel Kobe for all of the assistance they provided to me in the beginning of my career, and I now look forward to taking on this thrilling new challenge with Celtic, one of the greatest football teams in the world.”
