The Qatar World Cup chief executive Nasser Al-Khater believes that death is a natural part of life after a worker died in a resort. The death occurred during the group stage, which began on November 20 and finished on December 2, but no specific date was given. The Sealine Beach Resort wasn’t newly constructed for the event, which has come under fire for the poor working conditions of the migrant labor force and the lack of information on fatalities.
“You should talk about this now because the World Cup is now taking place and going nicely,” Qatar World Cup chief executive Nasser Al-Khater said. “Whether you’re at work or asleep, death is a natural part of existence. Our thoughts go out to the family of the deceased employee. It’s odd, though, that you choose to make this the subject of your opening query.”
“If the inquiry reveals that safety precautions were not followed, the corporation will be subject to legal action and severe financial penalties. The Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund pays compensation when a worker is murdered or hurt at work or when a business is unable to pay employees,” he added.
“FIFA is deeply saddened by this loss, and we are sending the worker’s family our thoughts and prayers. FIFA contacted the local authorities to get more details as soon as we were made aware of the incident. FIFA will be able to add more details once the processes pertaining to the employee’s passing are complete,” they said in a statement.
