Jaydon Bogle scored a brace to help Sheffield United produce one of the most comfortable football results of the weekend in the Championship. Nick Powell’s goal towards the conclusion of the first half cut the deficit before Bogle’s second goal at the very end secured the victory. Iliman Ndiaye had opened the scoring and Bogle had increased the hosts’ advantage. Wes Foderingham, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Sander Berge, Max Lowe, and Billy Sharp were all reinstated to the starting lineup by Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom. In the first few minutes of the game, Stoke captain Lewis Baker attempted a shot, but it was directly at goalie Foderingham.
Lowe’s low cross from the left provided the opening goal for the hosts, as Ndiaye beat Jack Bonham with a first-time shooting from within the box. James McAtee of United then missed with a shot, and at the other end, Foderingham had to be quick to intercept a Ben Wilmot cross that was heading in the right direction. Powell exchanged passes with Baker before taking a low shot that Foderingham blocked, reinitiating Stoke’s threat. Just after the halfway point, Bogle made it 2-0 by winning the ball, moving into the area, and beating Bonham with a shot that deflected off Phil Jagielka.
Powell restored parity in the first half’s dying seconds as his cross into the box found the back of the net after eluding everyone. The visitors made two substitutions, with Harry Clarke and Tyrese Campbell replacing Wilmot and Powell. When Brown connected with a Campbell cross, he had an opportunity to tie the game, but Foderingham stopped his header. In the waning moments, Stoke manager Alex Neil substituted Dwight Gayle for Jordan Thompson. In the last minute of play, Bogle added a nice near-post goal from Doyle’s low cross to make the score 3-1. Heckingbottom’s team did not put on a convincing display, but they managed to earn three points.
