Matchday 4 kicks off in the UEFA Champions League with crunch matches in store for Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester City. On Tuesday, Man City will travel to Denmark to take on FC Copenhagen as part of the group stage. With three victories out of three, Pep Guardiola’s team leads Group G and can advance to the knockout round with a victory over Jacob Neestrup’s team.
In addition, Chelsea will play AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday, and Graham Potter’s team will be trying to build on last week’s 3-0 victory over the Italians in order to increase their chances of moving on. The Scottish champions are all but eliminated if Ange Postecoglou’s team loses to Bundesliga team RB Leipzig on Tuesday. The second Battle of Britain will take place on Wednesday when Liverpool visits Ibrox to take on Rangers. Both teams are aiming for a win that would give them a good opportunity to advance to the round of 16, and Liverpool is aiming for one that would make that happen. In the meantime, Rangers would be eliminated from the competition if they lost.
Given how closely contested Group D of the Champions League is, Tottenham’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a critical one for Antonio Conte’s team. Each of the group’s four teams still has a chance to advance to the round of 16. Tottenham failed to convert their chances playing against the same opposition in Germany last week.
