Some Tottenham insiders say the club should consider re-appointing former manager Mauricio Pochettino this summer. Following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal late last month, the North London club has yet to name a permanent replacement.
Ryan Mason was named as an interim coach for the final seven games of the season, leading his team to four wins and three losses, but he will not be retained permanently. Spurs are currently in the final months of the season without a manager, and there will be a sense of urgency to remedy the crisis as quickly as possible.
The club is in turmoil both on and off the field, having ended another season without a trophy. They are qualifying for the inaugural UEFA Conference League next season. Star striker and captain Harry Kane is reportedly considering a summer departure.
According to an article in The Independent, some insiders at the club think Pochettino should return. Pochettino was fired in November 2019 and installed as Paris Saint-Germain manager five months ago. The Argentine is also a prominent name among the club’s fans and new team. It includes all of whom he collaborated with during his time in North London.
Despite winning the Coupe de France and the Trophee des Champions, as well as removing Barcelona and Bayern Munich from the Champions League, he had a tough start to his time at PSG. This season will be remembered for their semi-final exit to Manchester City. And surrendering their Ligue 1 title to Lille this weekend.
Spurs may believe that a bold attempt to get Mauricio Pochettino back to the club is not as unlikely as it seems. Neither the manager nor PSG is likely to agree to such a deal.
