Jack Ross revealed that he was bracing himself for the interest that has been shown in the Hibernian trio of Josh Doig, Ryan Porteous, and Kevin Nisbet. The former has been a target for big Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea. Porteous and Nisbet were targets of championship clubs. Hibernian executive chairman Ron Gordon has not ruled out the sales this summer window.
“We have still got them at the moment, they are still here training with me,” Hibernian head coach jack Ross said. “Naturally I want to keep them but I am not naïve enough to not expect there to be either interest or concrete interest. We just have to make sure that we are ready for that because there will come the right time for these players to move as well. Should the problem we don’t want arise, we have just got to find a solution to it?”
“People would argue that the Premiership is as strong as it has been in recent times,” Ross added. “I think when you look at the teams involved in it, the number of derby matches you have got through the course of the season, those bring different dynamics and challenges as well. We proved last year that we had a good squad here and good players that were capable of meeting a lot of those challenges. There are a lot of exciting games.”
Hibernian were runners-up to St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup final the last season.
