Ryan Christie scored his first goal for Bournemouth as they produced one of the comfortable football results of the weekend in the Championship. He opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Leandro Bacuna was sent off just before the break. Their top scorer Dominic Solanke doubled their advantage in the 68th minute before an own goal from Alex Smithies helped them seal the three points. The win took them four points ahead of Fulham having played two games more. Solanke took his tally for the season to 18 goals, four behind top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic on 22.
Managers Reaction
Bournemouth’s Scott Parker: “I am satisfied. It was a good performance all-around. The first goal settled the players and the crowd. Once the boy got sent off it was about being professional. The second goal was key. It was lovely to play, a lovely assist from Phil and a nice finish from Dom. He has laser-vision in those situations. Covid-hit Cardiff also saw top-scorer Moore hobble off with an ankle injury as they endured a miserable return to action after three weeks off.”
Cardiff’s Steve Morison did not attend the post-match press conference, citing ‘Welsh law’.
