After head coach Ronald Koeman touchline ban for Saturday’s possible LaLiga title decider against Atletico Madrid was upheld, Barcelona will appeal to Spain’s Administrative Court of Sport (TAD). Read more about Ronald Koeman here.
After being handed a red card for remarks allegedly made to the fourth official during his side’s shock 2-1 home defeat to Granada last Thursday, Koeman was given a two-match suspension.
Ronald Koeman’s suspension was not revoked by the Spanish Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Friday, and the Dutchman will not be in charge of Barcelona versus Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
The 58-year-old sat out Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Valencia on Sunday. With assistant coach Alfred Schreuder in charge of the victory. This puts Barca two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid ahead of this weekend’s showdown.
Barcelona appealed to the complaints committee in vain before proceeding to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. They had hoped to get Koeman back in time for the crucial match at Camp Nou. But their appeal was denied on Wednesday.
As a result, Koeman will sit in the stands. And his assistant Alfred Schreuder will take command of the squad, as he did at Mestalla.
The Catalan giants, on the other hand, will now take their case to TAD. They will be requesting a partial termination of the ban. The appeal will allow the Dutchman to play against Atletico.
Barca is now behind Real Madrid in the standings. This is due to a poor head-to-head record and will face Levante, Celta Vigo, and Eibar after Atleti’s stay.
