Real Madrid said they had sent young Japanese winger Takefusa Kubo back on loan on Friday, this time to La Liga rivals Getafe to finish the season.
Before transferring to FC Tokyo, Kubo, 19, spent time in the youth system at Barcelona, where he was unsurprisingly nicknamed the Japanese Messi.
When he joined Real Madrid, he returned to Spain in 2019 but has yet to play for the side.
As the club was relegated, he spent last season with Mallorca, scoring four goals in 36 matches.
He started at Villarreal this season, but after just 13 appearances, mostly off the bench, the loan was cut short on Friday, immediately before Getafe’s loan.
