As they failed to prevail over Burnley, Paul Pogba fired Manchester United off the Premier League table.
The first half was goalless but full of confusion as Luke Shaw was booked for an altercation in which Burnley needed a red card, while Harry Maguire had a goal disallowed for the slightest contact with Erik Pieters.
United upped the pace in the second half and Pogba managed to dominate the game before eventually breaking Burnley’s determination when his volley from the box edge deflected past Nick Pope in the 71st minute.
On Sunday, Burnley stayed 16th in the table while United traveled to Anfield to meet second-placed Liverpool, who are three points behind the new league leaders.
