From October 11 to October 30, 2022, the FIFA U-17, Women’s World Cup 2022 will be hosted by India. The dates were revealed on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at a virtual FIFA Council meeting.
“The announcement of the dates for the U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022—the 11th to the 30th of October—marks the tournament’s new beginning. The LOC is continuing the work that was started in the previous version. We look forward to resuming all legacy operations as the Covid-19 situation improves, as well as the development of women’s football through this tournament,” Kushal Das, the AIFF’s General Secretary, said.
The Coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2021 U-17 Women’s World Cup in India. And it was also announced that India will host the 2022 edition of the World Cup.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in November of 2020. But FIFA was forced to postpone it to February and March of 2021.
On March 15, 2019, the FIFA Council meeting in Miami named India as the host nation. However, after taking stock of the pandemic situation, the sport’s governing body agreed to cancel the event entirely. Along with the U17 edition, the 2020 U20 Women’s World Cup has been canceled.
The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata, the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai had all been chosen as host cities for the tournament until the pandemic caused it to be canceled.
