Manchester United seems to have yet to determine who they want this summer at the center-back. Usually, Captain Harry Maguire is picked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer alongside Victor Lindelof, but it’s not the best match and it’s hard to see us winning the Premier League title with the two of them in the back four.
At the turn of the new year, Eric Bailly showed promise, but the Ivory Coast international picks up so many niggles and is not nearly consistent enough for a side looking to compete for the greatest honors because of that. It’s a shame because he’s a very good defender with a lot of speed and has what Maguire wants next to him.
United supporters would like to see Solskjaer back in the transfer market with Ed Woodward and the board. The team is not a million miles away from Man City at the top of the Premier League, but in a variety of positions, everybody can see that we need to improve.
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano says that in the coming months, United will decide who they want to concentrate on. He adds that the club has never been in advanced talks to sign RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and is not currently a priority for Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich is bound by the French center-back but Romano suggests Liverpool and Chelsea are still in the race to sign him, as we covered here.
Time can say who Solskjaer has in mind to play next season in the center-back.
