Brentford has completed the signing of Kevin Schade from Freiburg on loan until the end of the season. The German is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Bees at the end of the season in a deal worth around £20 million if performance-related incentives are reached. The Bees defeated Liverpool on Monday to climb up to ninth in the Premier League. The 21-year-old has scored twice so far this season after helping Freiburg finish sixth in the Bundesliga last year. The arrival of Schade comes despite a short-term future that is unknown for star striker Ivan Toney, who has been accused by the FA of 262 betting-related offenses.
“I consider Kevin to be a classic Brentford acquisition. We see a lot of potential in this young, talented man,” Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said after signing Kevin Schade. “We have been keeping up with him for a while and believe he will fit our playing style. He is capable of playing in any of our front three spots. He could play for us as the primary striker or on either wing. He moves with terrific speed and shows a lot of promise when he runs behind the defense. He has excellent aerial skills in both boxes and has the potential to improve even more to become a serious offensive danger with his head.”
“When the team does not have the ball, we admire the way he presses. He is eager to put in a lot of effort for his group,” he added. “We think he has a fantastic chance to develop into a fine goal scorer, so it’s great to have him at Brentford. Our coaching staff is eager to collaborate with him.”
“I am very eager to join Brentford, and I hope to see you at the game,” Kevin Schade said after completing his move to Brentford.
