At the Allianz Arena, Bayern beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 and won the German Supercup. This will be the fifth trophy for Hansi Flick’s team in 2020.
With goals by Corentin Tolisso in the 18th and Thomas Müller in the 32nd minute, Bayern took a 2-0 lead, taking Borussia back through Brandt in the 39th and Holland in the 55th minute. Then the guests missed a great opportunity, and Joshua Kimmich gave him the Bayern trophy eight minutes before the end.
The team was rotated by Hansi Flick after the Hoffenheim fiasco (1: 4). On the flanks, Hernandez and Pavard played, Boateng stayed standing, and on the left-wing, Alphonso Davies played. Lucien Favre sent out the best he’s got on the pitch, but he trails 2:0.0. after half an hour.
From the first opportunity he made, Bayern took the lead. Thomas Müller played Coman beautifully to the right in the 18th, and Tolisso and Davies avoided the visiting defense entirely.
The ball falls to Tolisso, whose shot Hitz bounces into the crossbar, but the ball bounces directly to the midfielder of Bayern, who scores on the second attempt.
Six minutes later, in a good position, Reus fired straight at Neuer, and in the 32nd minute, from the second serious shot on target, Bayern took a 2:0 lead. The excellent Davies scored on the second tripod where, for the great benefit of the hosts, Müller gets a jump against the static Akanji and clears the ball into the target with his head from the tripod.
Borussia appeared split, but only then did the team of Lucien Favre begin playing. They pressured the hosts to make a high-pressure error five minutes before the half. Delaney took the ball and discovered that Halland had passed the ball to Julian Brandt, who split Neuer for 2:1 with a good strike.
Borussia then headed furiously for Bayern and Meunier broke out alone in the 47th minute in front of Neuer and diagonally from the right shot in a major chance high over the goal. But the guests came for a well-deserved equalizer in the 55th minute. Again, the high press resulted in a lost ball and Delaney played Haaland perfectly, who came out alone in front of Neuer and scored 2-2 routinely.
Who knows how it would have finished if Haaland had just four minutes later found a clean sheet. He again fled the home defense and fired Neuer from a nearly identical spot. He fired again at the same angle, but the experienced German put himself in a good place and defended his fired.
In those moments, Bayern dropped physically and it seemed that as it became riskier and riskier, Borussia would score the third goal. Lucien Favre did, however, make a remarkable error.
Combinatorics had vanished, the verticals had vanished, and Bayern was slowly coming to its senses. Bayern ultimately came away with the victory, as is typically the case in duels between these rivals. Kimmich took the ball away from Delaney in the 82nd minute and played Lewandowski, who waited to enter Kimmich and then forced him into a simple chance. For the final 3:2, Kimmich fired at Hitz but scored the rebound with a perfect reaction in the fall.
Bayern has therefore reached its fifth trophy in 2020. The Flick team won the title, the cup, the Champions League, and the super cups in Europe and Germany.
