Arsenal is keen to address the fates of several players as soon as possible this summer, with interest in Granit Xhaka and Hector Bellerin growing. After a dismal eighth-place finish in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta has previously stated that the club must be brutal this summer if they are to reduce the gap on the country’s top sides. With money limited owing to the current coronavirus epidemic, there is an understanding that certain players will have to be released to help pay the incomings that Arsenal’s manager feels is required to convert his club back into a contender.
Hector Bellerin is a target for Real Betis, who have conducted conversations with the right-back.
Bellerin is free to leave Arsenal
Following negotiations with Arteta, Bellerin is free to leave Arsenal this summer. He is considering his options after more than a decade in north London. Goal.com has learned that the former Barcelona academy product is interested in returning to Spain. His agents met with Betis representatives on Wednesday to discuss a possible transfer.
However, a major possible stumbling block is that cash-strapped Betis want to take Bellerin on loan. Arsenal wants to sell the defender – who has two years remaining on his contract – to boost their summer transfer budget. They want to fund moves for players like Norwich midfielder Emiliano Buendia.
According to Spanish sources, even if Betis were to reach an agreement with Arsenal, they would be unable to fulfill Bellerin’s current pay demands of roughly £3.5 million each season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal wants Matteo Guendouzi’s future sorted up as soon as possible, with Marseille showing interest in the midfielder.
Guendouzi’s contract is up in a year, and he recently returned from a loan spell at Hertha Berlin in Germany. The 22-year-old is not in Arteta’s plans for next season. Arsenal is hoping to sign him before the end of the transfer window. There have been rumors that Willian wants to return to his previous club Chelsea. Goal.com has learned that this is not the case.
The 33-year-old, on the other hand, is available and might depart this summer. Both sides are open to the notion of splitting ways after a trying first year in north London.
Despite reports of interest from MLS side Inter Miami, a deal is not considered to be near with any team.
